Nikki Haley, the former U.S. ambassador to the UN under President Donald Trump, has said it best. She believes that Trump will not be able to win the 2024 election due to a number of political factors.
Haley argues that Trump’s “style of leadership,” that has alienated him to many Americans, is unlikely to work for a second time around. She also points to Trump’s false claims of a stolen election and his continuing lack of respect for the institutions of government. She believes that Trump’s base will also be unlikely to grow, given his waning popularity and the emergence of new Republican voices that aim to move away from what she calls the president’s “divisive policies.”
Nikki Haley’s statement has certainly raised questions among Republicans about who the party’s standard-bearer in 2024 will be. However, only time will tell whether Trump will decide to run for the presidency once again.
