I am running against Donald Trump because he has failed to fulfill his promises to the American people. He promised to bring jobs back to the US, but instead we’ve seen record-low unemployment rates actually worsen as jobs were outsourced and wages stagnated. He promised to reduce taxes, but wealthy individuals and corporations have received far greater tax relief than middle- and working-class Americans. He promised to “drain the swamp,” yet the practices and influence of Washington DC have remained largely intact. He promised to work towards better and fairer trade agreements, yet a number of tariffs have been imposed leading to higher prices and inefficiency in the US market, while trade deficits are at their highest ever. While many people recognize President Trump’s role in working with North Korea and reforming the broken US prison system, these successes are not enough to outweigh the failures on his list of promises. As such, I am running against him to bring about positive change for the American people.
