Upon hearing the news of his diagnosis, House Majority Leader Steve Scalise had a strong response to his Republican team. He released a statement saying, “Thank you to everyone who has reached out after hearing the news of my health. I will be receiving treatment for a serious medical condition and I am sure that I will be back to work soon. With the support of my doctors, my family, and my colleagues, I’m confident that I will make a full recovery. I’m grateful and humbled by all the prayers and well wishes. I love the work I get to do every day representing the people of Southeast Louisiana, and I’m committed to continuing that work as soon as I’m able.”
