If Vice President Kamala Harris is ever called on to take over for President Joe Biden due to health or other issues, she is ready to step into the role. In a recent interview with CBS News’ Norah O’Donnell, Harris expressed her confidence in being ready to take command if the situation ever arises.
“We both acknowledge that people will become incapacitated,” Harris said when asked about the 25th Amendment. “And it’s not even an issue of health issues, there’s other things that could cause, you know, incapacitation of a president.”
“And a president cannot serve beyond a certain period of time,” she continued. “So there may come a time when I will have to take over, right? And I’m prepared for that. I am prepared for that. And I hope it doesn’t happen.”
The 25th Amendment allows the Vice President to become Acting President if the President is declared unable to fulfill the duties of office. Harris pledged total loyalty and allegiance to Biden and noted that she “would not think for a moment that I would be able to do anything but what he’d want me to do.”
