Arrests continue in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot in Washington, D.C., as the Department of Justice charges a fifth man in connection with the attack on officer Michael Fanone. Matthew Rupert, of Dawson, Ohio, is charged with obstruction of an official proceeding,civil disorder, trespass, and assaulting a federal officer. He is the fifth person to face federal charges related to the attack on Fanone, a Capitol Police officer who was dragged down the Capitol stairs, beaten with a flagpole, and tasered multiple times during the attack. He has since recovered from his injuries, but will require extensive physical therapy. According to the DOJ, Rupert is accused of pushing Fanone to the ground and taking his radio and badge. He is currently in jail in Ohio and awaiting extradition to Washington.
