The dispute between the stars of the Harry Potter series, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, and Tom Felton, and Ripple executive, Asheesh Birla, revolves around renovation plans to a London home. Grint and Watson currently own the property, however, Birla purchased the adjacent plot to build a ‘mega-basement’ to their house.
In response, the stars allege that the plan encroaches on their own living space. They responded by filing court documents to make a ‘protective’ order temporarily stopping the basement work, which can cause major disruptions to the nearby locals.
Birla responded, arguing that he has a right to extend an already approved planning permission, which would allow him to continue with his plans for the basement. He also stated that the stars are trying to impose their view of the renovation on others in the vicinity.
As of now, the court has sided with the stars and halted the work on the basement. However, there is still much to be determined as to whether or not Birla will be legally allowed to continue with his planned basement renovation.
