McCarthy’s attempt to harness the forces of disruption ultimately proved to be unsuccessful. He had ambitious plans to lead the Republican party but in the end he faced strong opposition from both sides of the aisle and his plans to use disruption for power ended up costing him political power, influence, and eventually his job. The disruption forces he hoped to tame ultimately consumed him.
