Senator Chuck Grassley’s office can lay claim to at least 20 marriages over the last 30 years. The senator himself has claimed responsibility for arranging four marriages for his staff members and others who had worked in his Senate office in Washington, DC. From matches made in his Senate office, to couples finding each other through his Iowa offices, the senator has been credited for his role in bringing together many members of his staff over the years. In fact, he is known to lovingly refer to them as “Grassley marriages.” Many of the couples met in the office, and after getting to know one another, decided to take the next step. The senator officiated one of the weddings, and was invited to many of them. The marriages include former staffers, as well as their spouses, many of whom are still close with the Senator. As his press secretary stated, “Senator Grassley takes an active role in helping to bring people together in special relationships.”
