The Worldcoin team recently announced that they would be discontinuing their use of USDC as a reward for operators of the Worldcoin network’s proof-of-stake (PoS).
According to the latest post on Worldcoin’s blog, the reason behind the move was to maximize the value of the network. Instead of using USDC as a reward, the team will now be rewarding operators with the native WORC token. This move will allow the team to maximize returns for PoS operators, as WORC tokens will be more valuable than USDC.
The team will also be replacing the USDC network fee with a WORC token fee. This will ensure that the Worldcoin team is able to receive the fees it needs to fund the operations of the network.
With the switch from USDC to WORC, the team is making a move to reduce the circulating supply of WORC and increase its value at the same time. The move should act as a positive signal to the market and encourage more people to participate in staking Worldcoin.
