Senator Joe Gruters, a Republican representing Florida, has broken from Governor DeSantis’ position of not endorsing any presidential candidate and has chosen to support President Donald Trump for reelection. DeSantis has maintained a neutral position of supporting whichever candidate the Florida voters end up choosing, while Gruters has cited the President’s commitment to the economy, support for Israel, and policy of securing the United States’ borders in his decision. “It’s my responsibility as a state senator who makes tough decisions every day to take a stand,” Gruters said. “I admire his courage, he’s unafraid to stand up for what’s right and protect American citizens from harm.”
