Trump and media want a televised trial in D.C. The Justice Dept. doesn’t.

The Justice Department has indicated that it does not support the idea of a televised trial for President Trump in D.C. Attorney General William Barr has said that the Justice Department will not take any actions that could affect the 2020 presidential election. The Justice Department is also concerned that televising the trial could create an appearance of a politicized impeachment process, which they want to avoid. Ultimately, it is up to the presiding judge to decide whether or not the trial will be televised.
