United Airlines tweaks frequent flyer program to reward credit card spending

United Airlines has announced changes to its frequent flyer program, MileagePlus, to reward customers for using the airline’s co-branded credit cards. The changes include awarding bonus points when customers use the cards to buy tickets, and offering discounts on in-flight purchases made with the cards. Customers can also redeem MileagePlus miles for a variety of experiences beyond travel, such as free rental cars, upgrades, and vacations. The changes come as airlines struggle to generate revenue in an increasingly competitive market, with customers continually seeking out the best deals.
