Government shutdown November deadline: What happens to Social Security payments and more

If the government shutdown lasts until the November deadline, Social Security payments will still go out as usual and Medicare and Medicaid services will still be available to those who need them. However, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and other agencies such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) may experience delays with processing and delivering services, such as tax refunds and collecting rental payments. The federal personnel responsible for issuing passports and visa applications may also be furloughed, leading to delays in processing applications.
