There are numerous Jewish seminaries in Israel, all of which are located in the Jerusalem and surrounding areas. However, following a deadly Hamas terror attack near the Gaza border in August 2020, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced the reopening of the area to Jewish seminaries and students from the West Bank and Gaza Strip. The reopening allows Israelis to travel to and from Israel to the Gaza Strip, a region historically hostile to the Jewish presence. Jewish seminaries in Israel can now send their students to the area to study Torah and rabbinic teachings.
