Ford to spend $3 billion to expand large truck production to a plant previously set for EVs

Ford Motor Co. has announced plans to spend $3 billion to increase production of large trucks at a plant that was originally designed for electric vehicles. The carmaker aims to meet growing market demand and better compete with rivals, while maintaining its commitment to electric vehicles.

The planned expansion includes the manufacture of its popular F-150 series and could lead to significant job creation at the plant. The decision represents Ford’s focus on delivering a combination of electric and internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, thereby providing customers with a variety of options. Despite this switch, Ford remains committed to an all-electric future and has several other plants dedicated to EV production.
