A conservative watchdog group, Judicial Watch, had a win in court recently when the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ordered the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to stop deleting emails. The case originated from a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit filed by Judicial Watch. They were seeking records about the CDC’s interactions with Big Tech concerning COVID-19.
U.S. District Judge Trevor McFadden issued the ruling, and stated that the federal government lawfully can’t destroy the requested records while the litigation is ongoing. The judge also ordered that the CDC must preserve all emails sent or received since this case was filed in January 2022. The decision is a significant victory for Judicial Watch in their pursuit of transparency concerning the CDC and its handling of the pandemic.
