Amazon sued by D.C. AG for allegedly excluding neighborhoods from Prime delivery

On Tuesday, May 25, 2021, District of Columbia Attorney General Karl Racine filed an antitrust lawsuit against Amazon.com Inc., accusing them of controlling prices across the online retail market and using that dominance to harm both consumers and sellers.

The antitrust suit does not specifically address the issue of Amazon Prime delivery service excluding certain neighborhoods. This could be confusion with a separate instance from 2016, when Amazon faced criticism for excluding certain predominantly minority neighborhoods from its same-day Prime delivery service. In response to the controversy, Amazon expanded its coverage areas.
