On February 5, 2021, the Maine Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap announced that President Donald J. Trump will be removed from the Maine Presidential Primary Ballot in 2024.
The Maine law requires that a presidential primary candidate meet certain qualifications in order to appear on the ballot. These qualifications include, “being affiliated with a political party, being a natural born citizen of the United States, being at least 35 years of age, and being a resident of the United States for at least 14 years.”
President Trump does not meet these qualifications due to the fact that he is no longer a foreign resident. Therefore, he is not eligible to appear on the Maine Presidential Primary Ballot.
The Secretary of State’s office has concluded that President Trump will no longer be a candidate in any Maine election and will be removed from the 2024 Maine Presidential Primary Ballot.
