DOJ prosecutor accused of limiting questions on Biden during Hunter probe expected to appear for deposition

E. Barrett Prettyman Jr., the former deputy assistant attorney general at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), is expected to appear for a deposition in relation to allegations that DOJ prosecutors limited the scope of the investigation into Hunter Biden. The deposition is part of a lawsuit brought by conservative allies of former President Trump who contend that the DOJ failed to press as hard as it should have in probing possible influence-peddling and other illegal activities by former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.

Prettyman was reportedly among a team of prosecutors who limited the scope of the investigation — and ultimately chose not to file charges — due to, in their opinion, a lack of any evidence of criminal wrong doing. Although President Trump and his allies have argued that the investigation should have been fully pursued, Prettyman has defended the investigation as appropriate and well within the parameters of justice.

At the deposition, Prettyman is expected to answer questions surrounding the accusations that his office acted inappropriately. He will also be asked to provide anything he knows about Hunter Biden and to comment on the scope of the probe. Prettyman is expected to appear voluntarily and has stated that he welcomes the chance to set the record straight.
