The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a recall of “around 300,000” air fryers sold at Walmart, Target and Kohl’s due to a burn hazard. The recalled fryers, which were manufactured by Big Boss, are white and shaped like an 11-inch cylinder. It contains a large viewing window on the top, with a timer on the front, and a temperature dial on the side.
The lid of the fryer can open unexpectedly, according to the CPSC. This creates a risk of hot oil splattering onto the user, resulting in a burn hazard. CPSC has received 33 reports of the fryer lids suddenly coming open, seven of which resulted in burn injuries.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled air fryer and contact Big Boss for a free replacement fryer.
