On March 16th 2020, Maine Secretary of State Matt Dunlap removed President Donald Trump from the state’s primary ballot. Citing an anomaly in the Republican Party’s filing process for the June 2020 state primary, Dunlap declared that none of the party’s presidential candidates were eligible to be listed on the ballot. Dunlap concluded that the submitted petitions for Trump did not meet the requirements set out by Maine law, and thus he was ineligible to be listed. This means that despite being on the ballot in other states, voters in Maine will not have the opportunity to cast a vote for Donald Trump in the upcoming primary.
