Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts released his annual report on the judiciary Thursday, but sidestepped questions of judicial ethics faced by himself and his colleagues recently. Though the 262-page report addressed critical issues such as the shortage of judges, financial challenges, and the administrative judges that oversee less-publicized cases, Roberts did not address the Supreme Court’s involvement in cases of judicial misconduct. Recent scandals involving Supreme Court Justices have prompted some ethics groups to call for an investigation into the Court’s role in such issues. However, Roberts did not address these issues in his report, instead advocating for the need to protect the independence of the judiciary.
