Retired Army Lieutenant Colonel Larry Rendall Brock has recently come forward claiming that he experienced professional and personal reprisals for his account of the US Capitol riot response. Brock was filmed on January 6, 2021 as part of the Capitol Hill mob wearing a “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) hat and tactical gear. Brock alleged that he had faced retribution from the Department of the Army in the form of removing him from their list of speakers and cancelling a speaking engagement at Fort Gordon in Georgia. In an article from The Military Times, he also claimed hiring decisions have been withheld and he has faced death threats from fellow veterans. The Department of the Army has asserted that it has “reviewed the available records from the institution and found no evidence that he was scheduled or selected to speak at Fort Gordon prior to the incidents at the US Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.” Furthermore, the Department of the Army noted that neither they nor the Defense Department have a policy of taking any “retaliatory action” for acknowledging upward chain of command.
