Kamala Harris is an American politician and attorney who is currently serving as the vice president of the United States, having taken office in January 2021 alongside President Joe Biden. Harris is the first woman, the first African American woman, and the first Asian American woman to hold the vice presidency.
Prior to her current role, Harris served as the junior senator from California from 2017 to 2021. She has a significant background in law, as she was the district attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011 and the attorney general of California from 2011 until 2017. Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California, on October 20, 1964, to parents of Jamaican and Indian descent. She completed her undergraduate degree at Howard University and earned her law degree from Hastings College.
