Kraken Adds Onchain Yield to SPYx, QQQx and NVDAx

Kraken has introduced vaults that let eligible clients allocate SPYx, QQQx and NVDAx tokenized assets to onchain lending strategies. The exchange said in its announcement that yield accrues continuously and is paid in the same xStock deposited.

The vaults are available through Kraken and Kraken Pro to eligible clients in the European Economic Area and other supported markets. They are excluded in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and United Arab Emirates.

Clients can allocate less than one dollar and request a withdrawal at any time, but Kraken says the xStocks are returned within three days. That delay means the product should not be described as instant-access yield.

Yield Comes From Onchain Lending

Veda provides the vault infrastructure and Sentora designs and curates the strategy. Allocated xStocks can be used in onchain markets including Kamino on Solana.

Kraken’s support material states that the vault strategy can borrow stablecoins against xStocks collateral. That structure introduces liquidation risk if collateral values, liquidity or oracle conditions move against the position. Smart-contract, protocol, counterparty and blockchain risks also remain even though users enter the product through Kraken’s interface.

Darius Tabatabai, head of Kraken Pro, said: “Every xStocks position sitting untouched is capital not working as hard as it should. Clients can already earn dividend yield on select xStocks, and our new vaults enable clients to earn additional onchain yield on their holdings.”

The additional yield is distinct from any distribution associated with the referenced equity or fund. It is generated through a DeFi strategy and can vary. The token’s economic exposure, issuer terms and applicable rights should also be assessed separately from the underlying security.

The product develops the composability argument behind the everything-exchange model. Tokenized assets can be transferred or used inside onchain protocols rather than remaining as static positions in a conventional brokerage ledger.

Vaults Extend Kraken DeFi Earn Infrastructure

Kraken said the xStocks vaults use the same infrastructure as Kraken DeFi Earn, which launched in January 2026 and has since received more than $800 million in deposits. The figure is supplied by Kraken and covers the wider DeFi Earn product, not only the three new xStocks vaults.

Sun Raghupathi, CEO and co-founder at Veda, said: “Tokenized equities have moved beyond simply replicating traditional market exposure onchain, towards making those assets even more productive. By bringing xStocks into Veda vaults, Kraken clients can access onchain yield strategies without having to navigate DeFi themselves.”

Raghupathi added: “This makes it dead simple to earn on xStocks through the same integration that already enables clients to earn yield on stablecoins and bitcoin.”

Kraken says the positions are held in self-custodial wallets and vault activity can be checked onchain. Onchain transparency can show addresses and transactions, but it does not by itself explain every legal, market or operational risk. Users still depend on strategy parameters, oracle design and the liquidity available when a position needs to be adjusted.

That distinction resembles a wider market-structure problem. Continuous tokenized trading can coexist with fragmented settlement and offchain dependencies. Institutional firms are also building custody and brokerage links, including UniCredit’s review of digital-asset infrastructure.

xStocks Gain a Second Use Beyond Trading

Anthony DeMartino, CEO and co-founder at Sentora, said: “A Kraken client holding SPYx or NVDAx already has the equity exposure. xStocks vaults let them keep that position while generating additional yield in-kind.”

DeMartino said the strategies set exposure limits in advance and use live risk models to monitor collateral, liquidity and oracle conditions. Those controls are designed to mitigate risk rather than eliminate it.

The vaults extend tokenized equities from trading instruments into collateral used by DeFi strategies. That may improve capital use, but it creates an additional layer between the holder and the referenced market. A fall in the xStock, a protocol failure or an adverse liquidation can affect the result independently of the underlying equity’s performance.

Other financial firms are also connecting digital assets with familiar account structures. Block is seeking a national trust bank charter for Bitcoin custody, while MoneyGram has linked stablecoin balances with card payments.

Kraken’s launch provides a simpler interface for a strategy that would otherwise require several DeFi steps. The key disclosures for users remain the variable rate, strategy leverage, withdrawal mechanics, protocol exposure and the legal terms of the xStock being deposited.
