Republican Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida has stated that he and other GOP leaders in the state will not back down in their fight against a number of proposals from the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden. The proposals, which target mail-in voting and other election rights issues, have been opposed by Governor DeSantis. In an interview on Fox News, he said, “We are not going to be steamrolled by the DNC. We are going to defend the Constitution, the rule of law and the rights of our voters. We will not back down.” He and other GOP leaders have argued that the proposals amount to a federal takeover of the election process in Florida and that they would unfairly disadvantage Republican voters.
