According to GOP legislators, AI-driven applications can be used to access, manipulate, and even distribute child sexual abuse material more quickly and easily than ever before. The GOP is worried that such tools could make it even easier for sex offenders to target victims, track children’s online activities, and produce child sexual abuse content of higher quality. In response to these concerns, GOP legislators have introduced legislation intended to strengthen child safety laws and urge internet providers to take proactive measures to stop services designed to sexually exploit children from operating on their networks. Additionally, they are calling for increased data sharing and communication between federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to enable more efficient investigations and prosecution of individuals who use AI to exploit minors.
