GOP lawmakers are accusing the Biden family of forming a “cozy relationship” with a Chinese man connected to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and benefiting financially from the relationship. Hunter Biden, the son of President Joe Biden, has been in the spotlight for his business dealings with Ye Jianming, a Chinese energy tycoon with close ties to the CCP. In a letter sent to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Republican lawmakers called for an investigation into potential foreign influence in relation to the Biden family. The lawmakers argued that the documents provided “damning evidence of the cozy relationship between Hunter Biden and Chinese interests” and suggested that the Biden family may have “used their political connections and leveraged influence peddling for financial gain.” They also asked the State Department to review the validity of an intelligence report that outlined Hunter Biden’s involvement in a Chinese company linked to the CCP. The Biden family has denied any wrongdoing.
