DOJ tax official says Weiss needed approval from his division before bringing Hunter Biden charges: Transcript

DOJ Tax Division official: “Weiss needed to receive signoff from someone in the Tax Division before bringing criminal charges against Mr. Biden.”

DOJ official: “Weiss had to obtain approval to charge Mr. Biden with anything. Weiss was ultimately never able to obtain such approval.”

DOJ official: “Weiss did not have the authority to independently approve a criminal case against Mr. Biden. All such matters require approval from senior management in the Tax Division. This is standard procedure for any criminal case, regardless of the subject matter.”

DOJ official: “Without approval from the Tax Division, Weiss had no authority to bring criminal charges against Mr. Biden. Ultimately, such approval was never received and so the case was never initiated.”
