The Ron DeSantis campaign has responded to California Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposed debate between the two politicians by slamming Newsom’s “blueprint for failure.”
In a statement released on Friday, DeSantis’ campaign press secretary Stephen Lawson said the governor “has continued to promote a ‘blueprint for failure’ that has led to the worst poverty, highest taxes, and the highest housing costs in the nation.”
Lawson said DeSantis will agree to a debate “once the governor abandons his out of step principles and agrees to a change in course.”
The campaign also said the upcoming debate “will be the biggest political showdown yet”. The two are expected to discuss a wide range of issues including the economy, education, healthcare, public safety, and the environment.
“Ron DeSantis looks forward to the opportunity to speak directly to voters to explain why his blueprint for success and Gulf Coast to Great Lakes vision will bring about a brighter future for all Floridians,” Lawson said.
