Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY), the Senate Majority Leader, praised the success of the Senate passing a bill to avert a government shutdown saying “it is a good night for the American people.” Schumer stated that lawmakers had worked together to reach a deal and urged President Trump to sign it into law. He noted that the deal included a number of bipartisan provisions that will benefit the American people, such as providing funding for health care, infrastructure, disaster relief, and anti-poverty efforts. Schumer acknowledged the hard work of everyone involved in reaching this deal and said it goes to show that when both sides work together, anything is possible.
