Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) blasted the new ethics code recently adopted by the Supreme Court, claiming that it contains one “glaring omission.” According to Schumer, the code fails to address the issue of recusal in cases where the justices have potential conflicts of interest, such as rulings involving Trump. Schumer called on the justices to “reveal who they have financial ties to and take meaningful steps to avoid bias” when considering cases. He said that the court must make clear that “the Constitution and rule of law, not personal political relationships, drive their decisions.”
