Trump’s improving image can be attributed to both approval and, to a certain degree, amnesia. It appears that Trump’s supporters are either more willing to overlook the president’s missteps or they are actively choosing to ignore them. On the other hand, some of Trump’s detractors are beginning to soften their criticism of him due to the successes of his term. This includes foreign policy successes such as brokering peace deals in the Middle East, negotiating better deals with foreign countries, and a more assertive stance against China on trade. Additionally, the economy and stock markets are at record levels, and the 2018 tax cuts appear to be paying off for a majority of Americans. Despite these successes, it is difficult to say if this improved image for Trump is the result of approval or amnesia, as much of his controversial behavior still remains.
