Russian bailiffs will soon have greater power to seize and freeze cryptocurrency and Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) funds in debt collection proceedings. According to a presidential decree signed by President Vladimir Putin and published on the Kremlin’s official website on June 7th, bailiffs will now have the right to require individuals and legal entities to provide information regarding their crypto and CBDC balances, as well as put a stop to all transactions associated with debtors’ wallets. This move is part of a larger effort to modernize Russia’s debt collection process that has been in the works for months.
