The FBI has charged San Francisco resident Jamaica Ealey with making a threat against Republican congressional candidate Vivek Ramaswamy in April 2019. According to U.S. Attorney David L. Anderson, Ealey was charged on Friday with making a “true threat to use fire to commit a federal crime of violence in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 875(c).”
The complaint alleges that Ealey made a threatening phone call to Ramaswamy’s office on April 11th and said, “I’m going to burn down his office…I’m telling you, I’m going to kill Vivek Ramaswamy.” After his arrest, Ealey admitted to having made the call but claimed it was not meant as a serious threat.
If convicted, Ealey could face a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
