Listeria is a harmful bacterium that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. While healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea, it can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women.
If you have purchased any Hershey’s, Jeni’s, or Friendly’s ice cream product recently, please check the specific brand’s website or the FDA website for detailed information about the recalled products, including the product names, SKU numbers, and expiration dates. If you have any of the affected products in your possession, please do not consume them. Instead, return them to the place of purchase for a refund or dispose of them safely.
