Former President Barack Obama is once again stepping into the campaign limelight, in hopes of bolstering President Joe Biden’s standing ahead of a potential rematch with former President Donald Trump in the 2024 election.
Obama, who remains immensely popular among Democratic voters, has been making more public appearances lately, where he has made a point to defend his former vice president’s handling of the country’s most pressing issues. This comes as a part of a concerted effort to rally support for Biden at a time when his approval ratings have been on the decline.
While Obama is revered by many Democrats, he is also a polarizing figure for some, particularly amongst Republicans. Therefore, his involvement could potentially galvanize GOP voters who are vehemently opposed to his and Biden’s policy stances.
Nonetheless, the Democratic party appears to be relying on Obama’s influence to help rally their base and try to turn the tide in favor of Biden.
However, it is still unclear who the GOP’s candidate will be in the 2024 election. While Trump remains a dominant figure within the Republican party, other potential candidates have emerged as potential contenders.
As the election draws nearer, both parties will continue ramping up their campaigning efforts in what is sure to be a highly contentious race.
