Dr. Kevin O’Connor is a physician who has been in service to the White House for several years. He is currently serving as the personal physician to President Joe Biden.
Dr. O’Connor, a retired U.S. Army colonel, has served as Biden’s primary care physician since 2009, when Biden was Vice President under the Obama administration. He continued in this role throughout Biden’s second term as Vice President and also played a primary role in monitoring Biden’s health during his 2020 presidential campaign.
The closeness of their professional relationship has fostered a certain level of trust, with Biden even describing Dr. O’Connor as “the guy who keeps me healthy.” This trustfulness is reflected in the decision to keep Dr. O’Connor on as his physician during his presidency.
Prior to serving as White House physician, Dr. O’Connor worked as the director of executive medicine at the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates. His experience in this role, as well as his military service, has provided him with significant expertise in emergency and operational medicine. Still, it should be noted that details about personal relationships between White House staff and the Presidents they serve, including Dr. O’Connor and President Biden, are often kept private, so deeper, personal ties beyond their professional relationship may not be publicly known.
