Samsung Partners With Solana to Bring Stablecoin Transfers…

Samsung Electronics has announced a partnership with the Solana Foundation to introduce stablecoin transfers directly within Samsung Wallet, extending blockchain-based financial services to approximately 82 million compatible Galaxy devices in the United States.

The integration, announced on October 7, 2026, is scheduled to launch during the final week of October. It will initially support USD Coin (USDC), a dollar-pegged stablecoin, enabling eligible users to transfer digital dollars internationally without downloading separate cryptocurrency applications or managing private keys.

The service will be integrated into Samsung Wallet’s existing interface, which currently supports payment cards, identification documents and digital passes. Solana will provide blockchain infrastructure for transfers, while Samsung has also identified Sui as a network partner.

The 82 million figure represents compatible Galaxy devices rather than confirmed users or expected adoption. Availability will initially be limited to eligible US residents aged 18 or older, subject to identity verification and device requirements.

Samsung Wallet Expands Into Cross-Border Stablecoin Transfers

The initial rollout will focus on international money transfers, allowing users to send USDC to compatible cryptocurrency wallets or eligible bank accounts in more than 60 countries.

Samsung said transfers to external crypto wallets will carry no Samsung-imposed fees, although receiving platforms may apply charges. Transfers to international bank accounts will involve destination-dependent fees, with recipients receiving local currency through integrated conversion services.

The infrastructure combines several established cryptocurrency and financial technology providers. Bastion will manage regulated stablecoin accounts, compliance and cross-border payment operations, while Coinbase Prime Vault will provide custody services.

Samsung will not directly hold customer funds or function as a cryptocurrency custodian.

The integration builds on Samsung’s existing relationship with Coinbase, which previously introduced Samsung Pay support within its cryptocurrency application and Coinbase One benefits for eligible Galaxy users.

By embedding stablecoin transfers within a familiar consumer application, Samsung aims to reduce technical barriers that have historically limited cryptocurrency payments to users comfortable with digital wallets and blockchain networks.

Solana Gains Consumer Distribution as Stablecoin Payments Expand

The partnership represents another enterprise integration for Solana, which has increasingly positioned its blockchain as infrastructure for payments, tokenized assets and institutional financial services.

According to the Solana Foundation, the network processed more than $5.25 trillion in stablecoin transaction volume during 2026 through the announcement date, while its stablecoin supply increased nearly 20% year over year.

The foundation also highlighted existing stablecoin-related initiatives involving PayPal and Western Union as evidence of growing institutional interest in blockchain-based payment infrastructure.

However, Samsung’s announcement does not establish Solana as the exclusive blockchain supporting the service. Samsung specifically identified both Solana and Sui as infrastructure partners.

The initial launch also does not introduce general retail cryptocurrency payments. Samsung said future functionality could include stablecoin payments for online purchases and contactless transactions at physical stores, although no deployment dates have been confirmed.

Further geographic expansion will depend on regulatory requirements in individual markets.

For Solana, Samsung Wallet provides access to a substantial potential consumer distribution channel without requiring users to interact directly with blockchain applications. Actual transaction adoption, volumes and the division of activity between supported networks will determine the commercial significance of the integration.

The rollout illustrates how stablecoins are increasingly being incorporated into mainstream payment applications, shifting their potential use beyond cryptocurrency trading toward everyday international money transfers.
