Three brokers raised their AMD price target on 6 October. Citi’s Atif Malik went to $800 from $575, Mizuho moved to $705 from $580, and Stifel’s Ruben Roy went to $700. Advanced Micro Devices closed that session at $649.42, up $17.67 or 2.80%, at a record.
It has given some of that back. AMD stock traded at $637.45 on Nasdaq at 14:38 GMT+1 on 7 October, down $11.97 or 1.84% on the day. The more awkward number sits elsewhere. The average AMD price target across 55 analysts is $636.21, which is below where the shares now trade.

The thesis is that AI agents make the processor the constraint. Citi expects “the CPU market to expand from $29 billion in 2025 to $300 billion by 2030,” treating agentic AI as “a potential orders-of-magnitude driver of compute demand.” The bank argues that agentic workloads are “increasingly managing the reasoning, data processing and security required to operate autonomous AI agents,” which is CPU work rather than GPU work.
Put a growth rate on it and the scale of the assumption becomes clear. Going from $29 billion to $300 billion inside five years is a 10.3-fold expansion, which compounds at 59.6% a year. Citi names AMD the biggest beneficiary of that rebound and Intel a secondary one, which is what carries its AMD price target to $800. Intel fell 2% to $114.35 on the day the notes landed, while Nvidia added 1% to $241.92.

Mizuho reached a similar place by a narrower route. It estimates agentic AI will account for roughly 30% of server CPU units by 2030 and sizes the agentic CPU market at about $80 billion a year. That is a quarter of Citi’s whole-market figure, so the two banks are broadly consistent on how much of the CPU market turns agentic, even though their AMD price target numbers differ by $95.
Both lean on the same product. Mizuho notes that Meta’s Muse reached 5 million downloads in 22 days, ahead of ChatGPT, Grok and Claude at the same stage. Stifel’s Roy took a quieter line, framing his AMD price target around what management says about the data center outlook at the next earnings call, due 3 November.
Investor Takeaway
The average target across 55 analysts is $636.21, which is below AMD’s current share price despite three raises this week.
The Average AMD Price Target Sits Below the Share Price
Three raises do not move an AMD price target consensus built from 55 estimates. The average stands at $636.21 against a share price of $637.45, with a high of $1,250 and a low of $365, and the aggregate rating is still Strong Buy. A Strong Buy whose average target implies no upside is a rating and a number pulling in opposite directions.
That spread between $365 and $1,250 is the honest summary of where the argument stands. Citi’s $800 is 25.7% above the average rather than a consensus view, and FinanceFeeds’ own $757 bull and $390 bear scenarios bracket a similar range.
What the Bears Say About the AMD Price Target
Valuation is the whole of it, and it is what the $636.21 average AMD price target already reflects. AMD carries a trailing price-to-earnings ratio of 162.13 on basic earnings of $3.95 a share, with a market value of $1.06 trillion. 24/7 Wall St. put the price-to-free-cash-flow ratio at 158 on 7 October, a free cash flow yield of 0.63%, and free cash flow down 9.89% last quarter, alongside gaming revenue off 31% and $440 million of export control costs in fiscal 2025.

Lisa Su has said AMD will sharply increase chip supply in 2027, which concedes that supply is the binding constraint now. Against that, the stock is up 38.39% in a month, 192.08% year to date and 197.59% over a year, after an $8.2 billion deal for World Labs and warrants for 320 million shares held by OpenAI and Meta.
Investor Takeaway
Analyst targets on AMD run from $365 to $1,250, a spread wide enough to make the $636.21 average close to meaningless.
