Starbucks is celebrating 20 years of its beloved Pumpkin Spice Latte with a special line of limited-edition Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). These “spiced with digital art, nostalgia and collectability” NFTs will feature a variety of illustrations and moving art pieces from five digital artists, including some original artwork from Starbucks.
The digital art pieces are avatars of the “PSL family” — the cute and colorful characters that have been featured in the Pumpkin Spice Latte marketing campaigns, such as the Pumpkin King and Princess Pumpkin. Each NFT art piece will be five unique designs, with different versions of each available.
The limited-edition NFTs are available on OpenSea, an online marketplace for digital assets, and will be available from September 28th to October 31st, 2020. These NFTs are special collector’s items for fans of the Pumpkin Spice Latte, but will also showcase the power and potential of blockchain technology.
Starbucks is the first company to launch a line of NFT collectibles with OpenSea, and they are hoping that the project will be a successful one that encourages others to explore how blockchain technology can be used in creative new ways.
