Crypto ETF Flows This Week: Bitcoin Funds Net $301 Million…

US spot Bitcoin ETFs finished the week ending October 23 with approximately $301.2 million in net inflows, reversing two consecutive weeks of withdrawals despite a $635.6 million exodus on Thursday and another $137.9 million leaving on Friday.

The recovery was narrowly supported by BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT), which attracted $565.7 million over five sessions while the remaining Bitcoin funds collectively lost approximately $264.5 million, according to Farside Investors data.

Ethereum ETFs moved in the opposite direction, extending their weekly outflow streak, while XRP attracted fresh subscriptions during Thursday’s broad selloff. The divergence highlights how crypto ETF flows can differ substantially across assets and issuers even during the same trading session.

Bitcoin ETF Flows: $1.07 Billion In, Then $773.5 Million Out

Bitcoin funds accumulated $1.0747 billion during the first three trading sessions before surrendering $773.5 million across Thursday and Friday. The resulting weekly gain of $301.2 million ended a two-week outflow streak.

Trading Day Bitcoin ETF Net Flow
Monday, October 19 +$526.7 million
Tuesday, October 20 +$23.2 million
Wednesday, October 21 +$524.8 million
Thursday, October 22 -$635.6 million
Friday, October 23 -$137.9 million*
Weekly Total +$301.2 million*

*Friday’s figures remain provisional because VanEck’s HODL flow had not been reported in Farside’s October 24 table.

The reversal was especially sharp after Wednesday’s $524.8 million inflow. FinanceFeeds reported the October 21 recovery, when Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and XRP funds collectively attracted approximately $541 million.

Thursday’s $635.6 million withdrawal more than erased Wednesday’s Bitcoin inflow alone. SoSoValue characterized the session as the largest single-day Bitcoin ETF outflow since June 25.

Ether ETFs Lose $221 Million as Outflow Streak Extends

Ethereum ETFs recorded approximately $220.7 million in net withdrawals during the five-session week, according to Farside, extending their losing streak to four consecutive weeks.

Monday brought $103.3 million in redemptions, followed by $26.1 million on Tuesday. Wednesday briefly interrupted the selling with $14.9 million in inflows, but Thursday produced another $110.6 million withdrawal.

Friday’s reported $4.4 million inflow, led by Fidelity’s FETH, offered limited relief. VanEck’s ETHV had not reported its Friday figure.

BlackRock’s iShares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) accounted for $233.2 million in weekly redemptions, exceeding the category’s net loss as subscriptions into competing funds partially offset its withdrawals.

The result followed approximately $320.1 million in Ether ETF outflows during the preceding week. FinanceFeeds previously examined Ethereum’s decline below $2,400 alongside the sustained withdrawal trend.

Bitcoin’s return to positive weekly flows therefore did not represent a comparable recovery in investor demand across the two largest cryptocurrency ETF categories.

XRP Attracts $3.55 Million While Solana Funds Lose $8.51 Million

Thursday’s selloff also exposed differences among alternative cryptocurrency ETFs.

According to SoSoValue figures, XRP spot ETFs attracted $3.55 million on October 22, with Franklin Templeton’s XRPZ accounting for the subscriptions. XRP was the only category among Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and XRP to finish that session with positive net flows.

Other smaller asset categories, including Zcash, Hedera and NEAR, also recorded inflows, meaning XRP was not the only positive cryptocurrency ETF category across the broader market.

Solana ETFs posted approximately $8.51 million in net withdrawals according to SoSoValue. Farside’s fund-level series showed a slightly larger $8.9 million outflow for the same session.

Across the five trading days, Farside reported approximately $17.6 million in Solana ETF withdrawals, with Friday showing no net movement among reporting funds.

BlackRock and Fidelity Led Thursday’s Bitcoin ETF Withdrawals

Thursday’s largest redemptions came from BlackRock’s IBIT, which lost approximately $254.1 million, and Fidelity’s Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC), which shed $217.5 million.

Together, they represented roughly 74% of the day’s net Bitcoin ETF withdrawal. ARK 21Shares’ ARKB followed with $109.4 million in redemptions.

FinanceFeeds documented Thursday’s $635 million ETF selloff before Friday’s additional withdrawals changed the final weekly picture.

IBIT subsequently lost another $110.3 million on Friday but retained its positive weekly balance because Monday alone had delivered $665.2 million in subscriptions.

ETF flows measure net share creations and redemptions rather than every trade in ETF shares. They also do not prove that an equivalent dollar amount of Bitcoin was sold directly on spot exchanges.

Fed Decision Next Week: What Previous ETF Flows Show

The next major macroeconomic event is the Federal Reserve’s October 27-28 policy meeting, with Bitcoin trading around $80,800 during Saturday’s market commentary.

The previous two Federal Open Market Committee decisions produced contrasting Bitcoin ETF flows.

On July 29, when the Fed maintained its benchmark interest-rate range at 3.50%-3.75%, Bitcoin ETFs attracted approximately $32.1 million. The following session brought another $233.1 million.

On September 16, when policymakers increased the target range by 25 basis points to 3.75%-4.00%, Bitcoin funds recorded approximately $295.9 million in outflows. However, the following trading day reversed direction with $159.5 million in inflows.

Those differences do not establish that Federal Reserve decisions directly caused the ETF movements. They illustrate how quickly fund subscriptions can change around monetary-policy announcements.

The next test is whether Bitcoin ETFs can sustain positive weekly flows beyond BlackRock’s contribution, while Ethereum’s redemptions stabilize and XRP and Solana attract broader participation.

For now, the decisive weekly result is that Bitcoin ETFs returned to net inflows despite Thursday’s exceptionally large withdrawal, while Ether funds remained under sustained pressure.
