BTC Price Recovers From Seven-Week $75,653 Low as Democrats…

Bitcoin fell to $75,653 early on Wednesday while US midterm votes were counted, then clawed back most of the drop inside eleven hours. The BTC price was $78,195 at 15:09 GMT+1, up 1.35% on the session and 1.93% over 24 hours, according to TradingView.

That low landed at 04:09 GMT+1 and undercut the $76,100 bitcoin touched on Friday after the Binance breach. Bitcoin traded lower than that as recently as 15 September, when it reached $74,887.50, which makes Wednesday’s BTC price low a seven-week trough. The Associated Press called the Senate for Democrats late Tuesday and the House early Wednesday, and the BTC price has gained $2,542, or 3.36%, from the overnight trough since.

Traders Sold the Count and Bought It Back

Policy risk is the explanation traders are naming for the slide, and it starts with the regulators. TradingKey reported that investors feared enforcement actions against the crypto industry by the SEC and CFTC could intensify again, which would weigh on hedge funds building long-term positions. Tim Sun, senior researcher at HashKey, told Reuters that Democratic control could slow progress on crypto market structure legislation.

Positioning is the competing explanation, and the clock fits it more neatly than it fits policy risk. Analytics firm Santiment told crypto.news that sell-the-rumor, buy-the-news behavior could emerge once projections firmed up. The BTC price bottomed at 04:09, hours before the House was called, and rose into the confirmation rather than away from it.

Neither account has been established as the cause of Wednesday’s move in the BTC price.

Agency Enforcement Outranks Legislation Now

Congress has already shown it cannot move a crypto bill, which narrows what the election changes. The CLARITY Act failed a cloture vote on 15 September, short of the 60 senators needed to proceed, with Republicans Susan Collins, Josh Hawley and Jerry Moran joining Democratic opponents, DLA Piper reported. Bills not enacted in the 119th Congress must be reintroduced from scratch.

So the live question is what the agencies do, and they have been permissive lately. The CFTC approved the first US regulated bitcoin perpetual futures contract, at Kalshi, and issued a no-action letter to Coinbase. FinanceFeeds has tracked how the CFTC and the states are splitting jurisdiction over prediction markets, a fight that runs independently of who holds Congress.

Investor Takeaway

The BTC price round trip finished before either chamber was called, which puts the burden of proof on anyone pinning the drop on the result itself.

Kalshi Prices a Crypto Bill at 6% Before January

Prediction markets have put a tradable number on the legislative question, and it is a low one. Kalshi’s contract on the CLARITY Act or another qualifying market structure bill becoming law before 1 January 2027 traded at 6% on Wednesday, with $10.2 million traded across the market, Disruption Banking reported.

The near-dated price mostly reflects the calendar rather than the election, since the 119th Congress has weeks left. Its term structure is the more useful signal. Kalshi prices 15% by July 2027, 19% by October 2027 and 26% by January 2028, putting roughly one chance in four on a bill inside about fourteen months of Democratic control.

ETF Selling Shrank as the BTC Price Fell

US spot bitcoin funds shed $1.16 billion across three sessions, by SoSoValue’s daily data. The run was fading throughout. Outflows went from $643.33 million on 30 October to $398.62 million on 2 November and $115.56 million on 3 November, 82% smaller by the third session.

Friday’s session carried 55.6% of the three-session total, four days ahead of the count. Redemptions were thinning as the BTC price made its low. Source: SoSoValue · Chart: FinanceFeeds

Those bitcoin figures sit inside larger all-crypto totals of $815.8 million on 30 October, $545 million on 2 November and $207.9 million on 3 November. Ether funds have run a sixth straight day of redemptions. BlackRock’s IBIT lost $94.98 million on Tuesday and still holds $62.55 billion. The complex holds $99.16 billion, or 6.33% of bitcoin’s $1.58 trillion market capitalization.

Flows and $80,000 Will Settle the Argument

TradingView flags resistance near $81,300, with $80,000 the level that matters, and $77,000 and $75,700 back in focus on a failure. Markus Thielen expects a dip into the mid-to-high $70,000s before $90,000 by year end. Rekt Capital told crypto.news that continued rejection could carry the BTC price toward $75,500.

The BTC price is down 3.02% on the week, 9.38% on the month and 26.44% over a year, and trades about 41% below the October 2025 peak above $122,000, per Disruption Banking. A reclaim of $80,000 with ETF flows turning positive would support the buy-the-news case. Fresh outflows with the BTC price rejected under $80,000 would favor the policy-risk case.

Investor Takeaway

Redemptions decelerating into the low is the strongest evidence against a panic read of the BTC price, so daily ETF flows are the thing to watch next.
